Hire a youth this summer through the NL Summer Employment Program for Students! | CFIB
The Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Employment Program for Students (SEPS) is a wage subsidy program to help you create employment for post-secondary and high school students.
Employers must:
- Have 20 employees or fewer;
- Have a Canada Revenue Agency business number;
- If incorporated, be in good standing with Company and Deeds Online (CADO);
- Have an office/location in Newfoundland and Labrador;
- Submit activity and financial reports, and a copy of the payroll for the student, within 30 calendar days of the agreement end date.
Students must:
- Be entering or returning to post-secondary in the upcoming academic year, or
- Be currently enrolled in high school level I, II, or III, or moving from Grade 9 to Level I in September 2024.
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Apply directly to the employer.
- Not be an immediate family member of the employer.
Other information
- The maximum subsidy is $3,000 per each full-time equivalent approval.
- Post-secondary students can start work April 29, 2024, at the earliest.
- High school students can start work June 21, 2024, at the earliest.
- Employment must end on or before September 2, 2024.
The deadline for applications is February 22, 2024.
