Alberta's new vehicle compliance rules | CFIB
Were you aware that your business is now required to preform a hazard assessment in accordance with Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety legislation when vehicles are used on a work site? Effective May 2021, any personal or company vehicles that are used for work purposes are now considered work sites when used off the work site: for example, someone who is delivering a parcel, or driving between work sites are now required to have a hazard assessment completed to operate whether they are someone's personal vehicle or belong to the employer.
Each work site is different and employers are required to conduct a hazard assessment in accordance with the OHS legislation to determine appropriate controls and identify existing and potential hazards before work begins at the work site or prior to the construction of a new work site. Check out the OHS driving safety tips.
Driving to and from work is not under the jurisdiction of Alberta OHS.
