Throne Speech 2019: CFIB available to comment on behalf of small business owners

Toronto, December 5, 2019 – The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is available to comment on today’s Throne Speech from the federal government on behalf of Canada’s small and medium-sized businesses.

CFIB has asked the new government to make small business a major focus of its mandate. To do that, the government should:

  • Make it as easy to sell a small business to a family member as it is to a stranger
  • Work with the provinces to reduce interprovincial trade barriers, particularly on beer and wine
  • Deliver on its election promise to eliminate credit card processing fees on HST and GST
  • Put in place a plan to balance the budget within the next five years

Dan Kelly (President), Corinne Pohlmann (Senior Vice-President, National Affairs) and Jasmin Guénette (Vice-President, National Affairs) will be available to comment on the Throne Speech.
