Join CFIB’s fight to extend the CEBA repayment deadline.
On September 14, 2023, the government announced an extension of just 18 days for businesses to repay CEBA and keep the forgivable portion. This extension is of little value to the thousands of small businesses who just do not have the money to pay right now.
Mandatory pandemic-related business closures and restrictions led nearly 900,000 Canadian businesses to take out a CEBA loan from the federal government. Despite their best efforts, high interest rates, inflation, and labour costs are making a return to normal revenue an uphill battle for business owners, leaving many with no chance to make a dent in their debt repayment.
CFIB is very disappointed by the announcement and will be continuing to push government for more time to repay CEBA and keep the forgivable portion. Join the fight and sign our petition to Ottawa so that business owners can get back to doing what they do best – creating jobs and supporting the Canadian economy!
